Today my article, Walking Humbly, is being featured at Empowered to Connect. I am very honored and excited about it! Empowered to Connect is a wonderful resource for foster and adoptive families created by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Michael and Amy Monroe.
If you have read my blog for long, you know that Dr. Karyn Purvis is one of my heroes. When we were in our deepest place of despair in finding healing for our children, somebody sent me a link to some videos of her teaching and I cried all the way through them. I had already read her book, The Connected Child: Bring hope and healing to your adoptive family, and it was fantastic, but actually hearing her speak was what I most needed at the time.
Last spring I attended her sessions at the Christian Alliance for Orphans Summit. At the Summit I also met Michael and Amy Monroe, who presented one of my favorite sessions, Supporting Families in the Post-Placement Journey.
I was completely surprised when Michael contacted me and asked me to be a regular guest author for Empowered to Connect. I can’t imagine a better place for me to share my experiences and thoughts about loving and parenting children from “hard places”. I hope that this will be a long and fruitful collaboration and that God would use me as He pleases.
If you have a moment, please stop by to read Walking Humbly.
[Did I mention that I am really, really excited and that we are going to have chocolate cake tonight to celebrate?]
